Ramsey Celebrates the Fall with its Second Annual Harvest Festival

Ramsey Fine Arts Council (RFAC) hosted the second Annual Harvest Festival last Sunday, October 17th at the Ramsey High School.  The event was a wonderful success.  Over 1,000 residents attended this year’s festivities including pumpkin painting, square dancing, face painting, a pumpkin & apple recipe taste-off and crafts for all ages.  The Ramapo Mountain Boys provided Bluegrass music and friends and neighbors joined in square dancing.  New additions to the schedule included a pie eating contest and pumpkin seed spitting.                                     Special thanks to Shop Rite, Mehron, Inc. and Commerce Bank for their support.

Old Fashion Fun at the 2nd Annual Harvest Festival

This year offered old fashion excitement for the younger residents of Ramsey including a pie eating contest and pumpkin seed spitting challenge.   Both events proved to be very popular.   The seed spitting drew more than 50 children.   The games were structured in two heats.   The winner in the 10 and under heat was Brian Donovan with an uncontested 5 feet distance.  In the 11 and over group, Kyle Hasslinger made his friends proud with a distance of approx. 8 feet.

The pie-eating contest was not for those with a weak stomach.  Each heat contained 8 entrants that raced to finish a pumpkin pie piled high with whipped cream.  The 11 and over category winner was Kyle Hasslinger and Libby Eichen won the 10 and under group.

Special thanks to the Rainbow Café for donating gift certificates to all of the lucky winners.
